Forbes released  ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women In 2017’ list last week and two women from the UAE made it onto the list.

They are joined by women from 26 other countries, ranging in age from 27 to 91 who are all forces to be reckoned with in their field of expertise and work.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister for Tolerance ranked at an impressive #36 in the list

Sheikha Lubna, a member of Sharjah’s ruling family, was the first woman to hold a ministerial post in the UAE in 2004.

She now holds the position of Minister of Tolerance in the UAE, having previously worked as the Minister of International Cooperation and Minister of Economy and Planning.

She has spent time with the Pope, is on the board of the Dubai Autism Centre and works with the “Friends of Cancer Patients” Society.

A philanthropist and active advocate for women’s rights, acceptance and diversity, it’s no wonder Sheikha Lubna secured such an impressive spot on Forbes’ List.

A second UAE woman, Raja Easa Al Gurg, also made the top 100

Sheikha Lubna managed to beat off stiff competition 

The number one spot went to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, for the seventh consecutive year.

The list includes a number of prominent politicians and leaders, philanthropists, CEO’s, media moguls and technology geniuses.

Sheikha Lubna is in good company with the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Queen Elizabeth II, Anna Wintour, Taylor Swift and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg all securing places.

Sheikha Lubna even managed to rank higher than Queen Bee, Beyonce who came in at number 50 and former American presidential candidate Hilary Clinton who ranked at number 65.
