A New Longest Covered Tunnel Is Coming Up In The UAE Which Means You Can Reach Khor Fakkan In 45 Minutes

The ever-developing road network of the UAE is all set to get an additional five tunnels along the Sharjah-Khor Fakkan road and Al Rafisah Dam rest stop or recreational centre.

HH Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, will be inaugurating the tunnels today (Saturday).

One of the roads include a 2.7km Al Sidra tunnel, which is also the longest covered tunnel in the Middle East, and will measure 89 kilometres upon its completion. 

An official video was posted on the Sharjah news page, which says this new road will help people reach Khor Fakkan from Sharjah in just 45 minutes.

According to KT, Al Sidra, the last of the five tunnels, begins from Emirates Road and ends in Khor Fakkan. 

The names of the remaining four tunnels are Al Saqab at 1.4km, Al Rogh at 1.3km, Al Ghazeer at 0.9km, and Al Sahah at 0.3km.
