A Major New Road Costing AED1 Billion Has Opened In Dubai

One of the biggest projects currently being undertaken by the RTA, which aims to ease the pressure of traffic on major roads in Dubai—Parallel Roads Improvement Project in the Godolphin vicinity—has finally opened.

The first phase of the project, which itself has two phases costing AED1 billion, was opened, and the entire road spans 108km, starting from Sheikh Rashid Road in the north and ending on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.

The project includes improving the existing intersection of Al Meydan and Al Khail Roads

To tackle the problems of peak hour congestion and overlapping traffic, flyovers have been constructed; along with the construction of a two-lane bridge to ease the traffic coming from Al Khail Road in the direction of Sharjah passing through Al Asayel Road up to the intersection of Oud Metha Road.

Drivers going to Sharjah can rejoice

So can drivers going to Dubai Mall from Abu Dhabi

Heading to Jebel Ali from Oud Metha?

The two phases of the Parallel Roads Project will ease traffic density by 15 percent on SZR

The Phase 2 of this project is expected to be completed by the middle of 2018
