Sharjah Is Trying To Save The World One Bird At A Time

Avatar

Our neighboring Sharjah’s Districts and Villages Affairs Department has launched an initiative to reduce the deaths of birds with the “Quenching a Bird’s Thirst Initiative”, as part of the Year of Giving. According to WAM, Sharjah is increasing efforts to secure local birds from death due to thirst or hunger, especially in the hot summer months, by providing water and food containers to a multitude of areas in Sharjah.

This initiative is a second edition to the first one done two years ago

Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, told WAM that they decided to launch this initiative for the second time to be in tune with 2017’s Year of Giving in the UAE.

Locals in certain districts have also helped with the distribution of water and food around their homes, neighborhoods and in parks

Locals in areas such as: Mughaidir, Wasit, Muwaileh, Al Khalidiya and Al Rahmaniya have contributed through participation.

Anyone else can get involved, if they want to. A little goes a long way.
