The Central Operations Room of Sharjah Police received a plea from a citizen at 2:10 am on Wednesday, after his vehicle’s speed stabilizer broke down on Khor Fakan Road towards the emirate. The flustered driver received instructions and was guided by Sharjah police to de-escalate the situation as soon as possible.
A number of patrols were dispatched to his location, to take the safety measures needed to eliminate any risks and ensure his, and other motorists’ safety as soon as possible.
The driver was urged to remain calm, avoid driving on the fast lane and turn on his vehicle’s four alarm signals. He was also followed by two patrol cars, one preceding him and one following him, to prevent any dangers other vehicles could pose.
The 22 year old Emirati driver was driving at a speed of 120 km/h when his cruise control broke down and therefore contacted Sharjah Police.
Sharjah Police General Command calls on drivers to not rely entirely on the speed stabilizer, and to adhere to road speed limits, follow traffic safety guidelines, and to report to them in case of any emergency or technical malfunction during the vehicle’s journey. They also urged drivers to regularly check the general condition of their vehicles.
