A new smart monitoring system aimed at enhancing road safety is set to be implemented in Ajman on October 1, according to a statement from Ajman Police on Wednesday via X. This new system will detect violations related to seat belt usage and mobile phone usage while driving.

Ajman Police General Headquarters announced the initiative on social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safety for all road users and reducing the risk of traffic accidents and injuries. The statement read, “In order to ensure the safety of road users and reduce traffic accidents and injuries, we are activating the smart monitoring system to detect violations of mobile phone use while driving and failing to wear a seatbelt.”

Under federal law, the penalties for these violations are significant. Drivers caught using their mobile phones while driving will face an AED 800 fine along with four black points on their driving record. Meanwhile, those found not wearing their seatbelt will incur a fine of AED 400 and also receive four black points.
The implementation of this smart system reflects Ajman’s commitment to improving road safety and enforcing traffic regulations effectively. As the launch date approaches, authorities are urging drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to safety measures to ensure the well-being of themselves and others on the road.
