Even the workforce has seen a whopping 61% increase… so has the education system
But wait, there’s more! The Department of Statistics and Community Development in Sharjah (DSCD) has also revealed that a whopping 61% of the emirate’s population is now part of the active workforce. That’s right, folks. We’re talking about a mind-boggling increase from 856,000 hardworking individuals in 2015 to a staggering 1.1 million in 2022. It looks like Sharjah is not just a place to live but also a thriving hub of economic activity.
Now, let’s delve into the specifics of this population explosion. The census has shed light on some fascinating facts about the distribution of residents across Sharjah. Sharjah City takes the crown with a whopping 1.6 million individuals calling it home. But let’s not forget about the other towns that are rapidly growing too. Khorfakkan boasts 53,000 residents, Kalba has a population of 51,000, Al Dhaid is home to 33,000 folks, Al Hamriyah has 19,000 residents, and Al Madam isn’t far behind with 18,000 residents. Even Dibba Al-Hisn has experienced a significant population boost, with a current count of 15,000 residents. And we can’t ignore Al Bataeh and Mleiha, which are both bustling with 7,000 and 6,000 residents, respectively.
