Sharjah Taxi is pioneering the smart taxi industry in the Middle East with newly launched smart taxis
Sharjah Taxi, under the management of Sharjah Asset Management is launching the first smart taxi in the Middle East with the goal of harnessing artificial intelligence to be used in operating taxis.
The launch of the taxis is in line with Sharjah’s technological transformation goals, which aim to raise the level of services offered to the public in accordance with the highest global security standards.
Khalid Al Kindi, Executive Director of Sharjah Taxi, stated in a press release that the smart vehicles were equipped with sensors, cameras, a mobile data unit, and other devices connected to an integrated system, with the aim to continue developing work and control mechanisms.
The pilot project benefits from best international practices in the field of intelligent transportation systems, which will undoubtedly contribute to increasing operational efficiency, and provide an integrated network of systems to report instant and accurate information related to transportation movement.
He also emphasized that intelligent transport systems will apply the latest technology in the areas of surveillance, information gathering, control and communication means to maximize the capacity of road networks and other transport means which will help regulate traffic flow, facilitate access to key locations, monitor driver behavior, mitigate erroneous practices, and reduce meter operation.
Which will in turn result in fewer trips and total wasted miles, which ultimately reduces the number of traffic accidents and pollution and increases operational efficiency. The company will also benefit from reduced operating costs.
