Sharjah Rugby Club shared the sad loss with the community

We are heartbroken to announce that on Sunday evening our friend, teammate and Co-Chairman, Jimmy Walsh, passed away.

Jimmy had been a key player, supporter, chairman and outright legend for the Wandies since he joined in 2010. He was an infectiously energetic and generous character, full of life and he was a joy to be around.

He was a key in our title winning team in 2016, a vital member of restarting the Wanderers after the club folded for a year in 2018/19 and again was the main man in restarting the Sharjah 10’s, an event that people loved, after a 4 year break. He was also a great link in the hosting of the first supervets competition at the Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club this year. That was the kind of man he was, he would help out anybody that asked, on or off the field. And he loved an epic voicenote.

We will be honoring Jimmy in some way in the coming weeks, and further details will be shared in time.

He will truly be missed. Rest in peace Jimmy.

The family have asked that they be tagged in any posts, stories or messages, so please share any of your own memories, stories or messages using the tags below:

Lastly a message to everyone, we emphasise to reach out and not be afraid to come forward and talk to someone. We need to stress to everyone young and old that in life, just like in rugby, if we work as a team there is nothing we can’t tackle together.

“I didn’t know Jimmy that well but every time I saw him he went out of his way to say hi to me”

dubaisharksrfc: On behalf of the entire club, we were heartbroken to hear this news and want to send our deepest condolences to you, Jimmy’s friends and family during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
neildylanyoung: So sad, I didn’t know Jiimmy that well but everytime i saw him he went out of his way to say hi to me and make me feel noticed. He was very athletic, good fun to be around and its plain to see what a postive impact he had on the people around him who all loved him. So shocked by this news. Rest In Peace Jimbo, lots of love xxxxx
barrelhouserfc: Jimmy, you legend! Truly giving at all times. Played against you, worked with you, laughed and joked with you more… you will be severely missed. Sending all our love to your family and friends who will forever have a Jimmy shaped hole in our hearts. RIP brother. ❤️

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jimmy’s family at this sad time
