In a significant move to support residents affected by April’s record rains, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved Dh49,691,750 in compensation for 1,806 exceptional cases. This initiative specifically targets individuals whose homes were damaged but did not meet the usual criteria for assistance.

Two months prior, the Sharjah Ruler had directed an increase in compensation to Dh50,000 for those impacted by the severe weather conditions. The Social Services Department in Sharjah has been tasked with re-evaluating cases that were initially declined for support, allowing for the newly approved exceptions.

The compensation package includes:

• One-time assistance of Dh25,000 for 1,568 homeowners facing leaks or external damages, totaling Dh39,200,000.
• Minimum support of Dh50,000 for 117 affected cases, amounting to Dh2,883,750 across various areas in Sharjah.
• Support for 83 cases totaling Dh4,565,000 for individuals residing outside the emirate but impacted by the floods.
• Support for 38 new homeowners who received their homes this year, affected by rain damage to new furnishings, amounting to Dh3,043,000.
