In what can be described as extremely strange circumstances, a British tourist has been linked to the death of an elderly woman (aged 60) who collapsed and died of heart-attack after the tourist’s shoulder brushed against the victim while exiting the elevator.
Sharjah Police has now ordered the British woman, aged 32, not to leave the country after the family of the deceased filed a formal complaint and blamed the tourist for the death of their mother.
The tourist is now being questioned by the police.
The incident took place in Sharjah in a hotel in the Al Tawoun area. A police spokesperson told a local newspaper that they have reviewed the CCTV footage from the time of the incident.
“We inspected the CCTV of the hotel which showed that the British woman slightly touching the elderly woman”, said the police.
This happened on the day when the Brit woman was supposed to leave the country after spending her holiday in the UAE.
The case is ongoing, and although the woman is out on bail, she has been prohibited from leaving the country.
