The 49-year-old man found guilty of sexually assaulting and killing an eight-year-old boy has been executed by firing squad on Thursday morning.
The Jordanian man was found guilty of the crimes last year by the Courts, in a case that rocked the country.
Obaida was eight years old when he went missing from his father’s garage in Sharjah in May 2016, and his body was discovered on the side of Academic City Road in Al Warqa, two days later.
It’s reported the man took the boy to the Al Mamzar beach where he raped him, before strangling him to death in the car.
Abdullah admitted during the trial he had consumed alcohol on the day he committed the crime.
He was submitted for psychological evaluations, which found he suffered from alcohol dependency and antisocial personality disorder, but was mentally stable enough to distinguish right from wrong.
Abdullah’s remains will be repatriated to his home country, following his execution.
