Former US Press Secretary, Sean Spicer was in the UAE for the International Government Communication this week, and has spoken out about some of the incidents that happened during his time at the White House.

Spicer was the White House spokesperson for US President Donald Trump in 2017.

He spoke with media about his time at the White House, and some of the incidents that happened, as well as the Facebook data scandal, and fake news.

The Facebook data scandal reportedly swayed Trump’s 2016 election

And Spicer said on the topic, when questioned: “As consumers, we love the advances in technology. We love the idea that data can glean more and more about who we are, it solves so many problems. But in doing so, it learns more and more about us.

“I think what we’ve got to get into is a much more transparent exchange of what info you’re giving over and what you’re releasing it for.

“I think too often when you click on a site, there’s a box at the end that says ‘I agree to the terms & conditions’ but because we’re so eager to get to the application or the game or the website – we click the box.

“I think we’ve got to get back to this discussion of what’s appropriate to be shared and to be sold.”

Spicer discussed incidents during his time in the White House including the Covefe tweet that Donald Trump shared in May, 2017

He said at a press conference when questioned: “I think the president and a small group of people know exactly what it means.”

And told Richard Dean from the Business Breakfast about the meaning, laughing: “I don’t know, that’s a great question. As the president said at the time, he knows what that means – my guess is that it’s some typo but it’s something that will go down for the record books.”
