Residents living near the\u00a0 Two Dirhams Center on Al Estiqlal Street, Sharjah and the surrounding area were evacuated after an unidentified case was found by a residential building entrance on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Sharjah Police rushed to the scene after a call to the police operations centre\u00a0 at 8pm\u00a0warned a suitcase possibly contained a bomb.<\/p>\n
The roads opposite Mega Mall were blocked as police,\u00a0explosives experts, patrols, CID,\u00a0ambulance, civil defence team and firefighters all arrived to survey the site.<\/p>\n
Following an intensive search, Sharjah Police deemed the area safe and the call a hoax. After an inspection the case was found to contain shoes and personal belongings, according to a Khaleej Times report.<\/p>\n
The police reached the scene within five minutes and reassured panicked residents the search was routine to ensure the safety of all.<\/p>\n
