An Indian man found himself in trouble after being caught smoking in the toilet of an IndiGo flight traveling from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai. The passenger, a 26-year-old identified as Mohammed, admitted to the act after cabin crew discovered a cigarette butt in the toilet following a strong smell of smoke.
When questioned, Mohammed claimed he didn’t know smoking was prohibited on planes. Adding to the issue, the crew found six more cigarettes in his possession. Once the flight landed, he was handed over to security and taken to the nearest police station. A case was registered against him, and he was released with a notice after completing formalities.
This isn’t a first case for IndiGo. In September, a 38-year-old passenger was caught smoking on a Delhi-to-Pune flight after crew members found cigarettes in the toilet bin. While the passenger initially denied the act, he was handed over to the police upon landing.
These cases underline the importance of adhering to in-flight safety regulations, which are strictly enforced to protect all passengers.
