Nurai Island In Abu Dhabi Is Closing Temporarily This April

Mayar Ibrahim

There’s no word that describes Nurai Island better than “paradise.” This private island resort offers a glorious oceanside spa, five dining options ranging from fine to casual, a beach club, and a variety of activities both on land and at sea. So, it’s with a heavy heart that we announce the temporary closure of Nurai Island starting April 1.

Once you open Nurai Island’s website, you’ll be greeted with the following message:

“Nurai Island Hotel will temporarily close from Monday, 1 April 2024, as the property will be undergoing an exciting transformation to become Abu Dhabi’s most compelling, luxurious, and relaxing holiday destination. While we are elevating the Nurai Island Hotel experience, our booking system will be unavailable.”

Unfortunately, the website does not provide a re-opening date. So, that means the resort is closed until further notice.

Nurai Island Closing Message

In July 2022, Aldar bought Nurai Island Resort to undergo a refurbishment plan and extend the hospitality and F&B offering

The private island consists of 11 beachfront estates, 12 water villas and one boutique hotel of 32 beach villas and 15 beach houses. Initially, Zaya launched it in 2008 and opened the resort in 2015 before Aldar bought it in 2022.

After purchasing the resort, Jassem Busaibe, Chief Executive Officer at Aldar Investment, said:

“Nurai Island Resort adds a new dimension to our hospitality portfolio, catering to local and international visitors seeking a world class ultra-luxury experience. The multi-faceted element of the deal provides us with significant room for both development potential and operational improvements on an existing and ready to perform luxury asset. It also allows us to leverage our asset management and execution capabilities to drive further value, as we continue to deploy capital effectively and drive forward with our ambitious growth agenda.”

So, this closure comes in line with Aldar’s plans to grow Nurai Island Resort. Here’s to hoping that the glorious resort will re-open once again before you know it!
