International Press Keep Mixing Up Dubai And Abu Dhabi And UAE Twitter Isn’t Having It

Headline grabbing football news broke yesterday.

Rumours are swirling that a deal between Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Newcastle United FC owner Mike Ashley could be about to go through, meaning the Abu Dhabi Sheikh could be the new owner of Newcastle United and it’s front page stuff, but if you read the UK papers, you’ll notice one thing:

Many of the stories are leading with Dubai in the headline, even though Sheikh Khaled is linked to the Abu Dhabi ruling family, he’s a cousin of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, owner of Man City FC.

It’s like mixing up New York and Washington or London and Manchester… English tabloids can’t tell the difference between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and it’s this weeks face-palm moment.
