A Mum Gave Her Son CPR And Saved His Life In Abu Dhabi

On May 3, an 11-year-old boy suffered a cardiac arrest at a pool in Abu Dhabi. His mum jumped in and performed CPR, thus saving his life!

The mum underwent CPR training as part of her job as a physical therapist in the UK

“We were tossing a ball in the pool when my son said he was not feeling well and started going under the water,” Martina McGeehan recounted the story. “With the help of my daughter and a couple at the pool, we got him out of the water.”

Martina stated that her son was struggling to breathe and his eyes were rolling back. Therefore, she performed CPR to save her son’s life.

The paramedics showed up shortly after and took over the CPR from Martina McGheehan

The paramedics took over CPR from the mother. They also used the defibrillator to shock him and stabilise his airway on the way to the hospital. Moreover, the police escorted Martina was escorted to the hospital. Then her son, Leonardo was shifted to the ICU and intubated.

After the incident at the pool, Leonardo Osorio McGeehan suffered another cardiac arrest at the hospital. Further investigations revealed Leonardo had a congenital heart defect called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.
