An Abu Dhabi koshari restaurant was closed for food safety violations

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has closed the Abu Dhabi-based koshari restaurant for violating food safety regulations.

The restaurant, which holds trade licence no. CN-3824604, was found to have repeatedly violated food safety standards, posing a danger to public health.

The ADAFSA explained that the restaurant’s food control report was the basis for the administrative closure decision.

The restaurant was fined four times and received a warning of administrative closure for several reasons, including:

  • Ready-to-eat food items exposed to contamination
  • Spread of insects
  • Frequent smoking of workers in storage areas
  • Failure to provide an insect control contract

The restaurant will remain closed until it fulfills all the requirements for healthy and safe food.

The ADAFSA said that the closure and detection of the violations came as part of its inspection efforts to strengthen the food safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and ensure that all facilities comply with food safety requirements.

The ADAFSA also called on the public to report any food violations or any doubt about the contents of a food item by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi Government’s toll-free number 800555.
