Move Around Yas Island This November In These Free Driverless Buses!

The Integrated Transport Centre announced that Abu Dhabi Yas Island will see driverless buses and taxis by next month. Moreover, they revealed that the second phase of driverless transport is now complete.

WAM announced that the ITC is releasing driverless buses in November

The ITC launched phase two of smart transport in Yas Island and Saadiyat Island. Moreover, the 7 people can sit in the driverless bus and 4 more can stand. In total, the driverless bus can accommodate 11 people in one ride.

Furthermore, the ITC revealed that the smart transport will be picking up and dropping off in 9 locations

The 9 locations include W Hotel Yas Island, Ferrari World, Yas Water World, and Yas Marina Circuit.

ITC stated that this project is a part of Abu Dhabi’s intelligent transport strategy to adopt sustainable transport solutions. These solutions are based on knowledge and innovation, reinforcing the efforts to develop cities.

Currently, the smart transport project in Yas Island and Saadiyat Island currently includes a fleet of eight “TAXI” autonomous vehicles. These vehicles were the first fully automated self-driving taxis in the UAE. Moreover, the ITC launched these self-driving taxis last May.

The fleet also includes four mini Robo buses, which were added to the local transport services in June. In addition to 15 new charging stations added this month in Yas Island and Saadiyat Island.
