A gas cylinder explosion took place at a restaurant in Al Khalidiya on May 23. Those injured were immediately transferred to a hospital to receive the medical care needed. 120 people were injured and 2 sadly passed away as a result of their injuries.
Abu Dhabi police tweeted saying that they removed the debris and traces of the explosion from the area and allowed residents to return to their homes. The facades of 6 buildings had damage.
All injured received necessary medical care

H.E. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), and H.E. Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of DoH, paid a very special visit to a few patients in the hospital who sustained injuries in the gas cylinder explosion.
The DoH, in coordination with Abu Dhabi Police and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, confirmed that everyone who was injured by the gas cylinder explosion incident received the necessary medical care.
DoH is also coordinating with the relevant embassies and the patients’ families to facilitate their visits to the patients after they have completed their medical treatment!
