Abu Dhabi is revolutionising healthcare by building its first Women and Children’s Medical City! Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed approved this visionary initiative. Additionally, it aims to provide specialised medical care for women and children.
The plan features Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) as a pediatric Center of Excellence, Corniche Hospital for women and newborns, a rehabilitation facility, and a mental health center for women and children. This project represents a major addition to Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system which enhances the city’s advanced healthcare infrastructure.
They’ll feature over 200 doctors with cutting-edge expertise providing exceptional care to patients from the UAE and internationally in the medical city. Moreover, the offered services span over 29 specialties, including oncology, ophthalmology, neurosurgery, liver, and more. The CoE will have 250 beds, including 10 beds for mental health services, and 100 beds for long-term paediatric healthcare. Also, the center will drive research and innovation in children’s health, developing modern treatments and improving therapeutic outcomes for children facing complex health challenges.
The medical city for women and children is scheduled to open in 2027.
This movement enhances the integrated services system of the new medical city. Moreover, the new hospital will offer 205 beds, 90 dedicated to children and 15 maternity wards. The team consists of more than 120 doctors and 460 nurses and midwife specialists that’ll provide specialised care. Especially in obstetrics and gynaecology, fertility and assisted reproductive services, and women’s mental and general health.
