One thing that UAE driver’s license holders know is that giving way to pedestrians is one of the most important traffic rules. Abu Dhabi has installed new radars powered by Artificial Intelligence that will catch motorists who do not stop for pedestrians at crossings.

Abu Dhabi police shared a video on their socials that explain the various scenarios of this pedestrian violation. The radar system has been activated on various roads to control violations committed by drivers and jaywalkers in the Emirate.

Motorists will be fined AED500 and given 6 black points for not giving way to pedestrians

Authorities confirmed that the new smart system has been placed near schools and commercial centres in Abu Dhabi. Motorists must come to a complete stop if a person is going to cross. Only once the person has reached the other end, can the car begin to move. If a vehicle has begun to move but a person is still on the pedestrian line, the radar will activate.
