Sinan Al-Awsi: The Man Who Planted Over 200 Trees In Abu Dhabi

Sinan Al-Awsi is an Iraqi engineer who moved to Abu Dhabi in 1999. Over the span of 7 years, he planted over 200 trees on one road in the capital of the UAE. Sinan is a passionate individual who dedicated his time to planting trees for the betterment of the community.

He carefully nurtured every sapling and planted every seedling with precision, Sinan played a pivotal role in revitalising the local environment. The benefits of his actions are countless as they range from cleaner air to enhanced quality of life.

His commitment serves as an inspiration, reminding the community of the profound impact one person can make on the world.

Sinan Al-Awsi’s love for planting started as a hobby during his childhood in Iraq

The Iraqi engineer took on this project because of his passion and desire to provide more shade for pedestrians in Abu Dhabi. He chose to plant Coconut Palm trees solely because their leaves form a natural umbrella. Additionally, he planted 105 coconut palm trees and 104 plumeria trees. As well as more than 80 shrubs and flowers. So, in total Sinan Al-Awsi planted more than 289 plants in front of his residential building.

In a video posted by the Abu Dhabi Residents Office (ADRO), Sinan stated that the ADRO and Abu Dhabi Municipality visited him and his project. He also shared that both entities recognised his initiative and granted him the golden visa.

Due to his initiative and efforts, the UAE President invited Sinan Al-Awsi to Qasr Al-Bahr

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received the Iraqi engineer at Qasr Al-Bahr, Abu Dhabi on June 13. The UAE President recognised Sinan Al-Awsi’s community initiative of planting and nurturing trees in Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, His Highness applauded the efforts and expressed appreciation for the initiative.

Also, His Highness reiterated that all residents of the UAE are valued partners in the nation’s development process. Sinan Al-Awsi expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Highness the President. Moreover, he appreciated the recognition of personal and community initiatives that promote the preservation and sustainability of resources.
