UAE Condemns A Stabbing Attack Targeting Children And Adults

In a children’s playground in Annecy Park in the French Alps, a violent incident took place. Witnesses watched and panicked as a man carried out a stabbing attack on the morning of June 8.

The UAE strongly condemned the stabbing attack that left 4 young children and 2 adults with critical injuries.

Authorities were able to overpower the suspect and take him into custody

The suspect carried out a stabbing attack which targeted 4 children and 2 adults. Moreover, the children were all aged between 1 and 3 years old. One of the children was a 22-month-old baby.

They stated that the attacker was a 31-year-old man who had refugee status in Sweden. Moreover, the authorities informed the public that the motive behind the attack was still unclear. They also clarified that the incident provides no evidence of a link to terrorism.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) condemned the stabbing attack in the French Alps

In a statement, MoFA affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts. As well as its permanent rejection of all forms of violence. Specifically, forms of violence aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of human values and principles

Additionally, the Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government. As well as, the people of the French Republic and the families of the victims of this heinous crime. It extended its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

After the incident, a video of the stabbing attack circulated on social media

It is important to note that the video is too graphic for broadcast. To explain, the video starts off filming Annecy Park in the French Alps with children running around and playing while guardians watch over them. Then the attacker comes into the frame with a knife, following his appearance is the sound of screams.

The attacker then rushes towards a woman pushing her child in a stroller before turning around and attacking a man. The man attempted to use his backpack to shield himself from the attack and chases the suspect. However, the suspect jumps the gate and rushes towards a child where a woman intervenes between the attacker and the child.

The attacker is seen running back and forth between a woman carrying a child and the woman who intervened protecting a baby in a stroller.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued a statement emphasizing the significance of safeguarding diplomatic buildings. As well as the residences of embassy staff after an incident occurred yesterday.
