200KG UAE Flag Carried By 64 Nationalities Sets World Record In Abu Dhabi

In one of the most powerful moments of unity seen in Abu Dhabi, 153 people from 64 nationalities came together to carry a single UAE flag and set a new Guinness World Record.

The moment took place at Hudayriyat Island, where participants walked 100 metres together, lifting a massive 85-metre banner weighing over 200kg.

Not athletes. Not soldiers.

What made this moment even more special?

The participants weren’t professionals: they were doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who had spent recent weeks on the frontlines of care.

Standing side by side, they came together under one flag, representing the diverse community that calls the UAE home.

A moment of unity: rain and all!

Despite rainy conditions, participants, many joined by their families, including children; waited for the weather to clear before taking part in the record attempt.

The initiative, titled “Our Nation. Our Heartbeat.”, was held during the closing ceremony of the Burjeel Games.

Breaking records and expectations

The event set a new global benchmark for the “Most Nationalities Carrying a Banner,” surpassing the previous record of 58 nationalities.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was present on-site to review the attempt and by the end of it, the group was officially declared “Officially Amazing.”

More than just a record

The initiative was inspired by a call from UAE leadership to raise the national flag and reinforce unity across the country.

Organised within just 48 hours, the event became a powerful symbol of resilience following recent regional challenges.

From frontline heroes to flagbearers

For many participants, the moment was deeply personal.

Healthcare workers who usually spend their days caring for others stood together in a different way, as one community, united under one flag.

Their message was clear: the UAE is home to many, but stands as one.
