The second group of Palestinian children hurt in the ongoing conflict in Gaza has arrived in the United Arab Emirates to receive medical attention at Emirati facilities.
In less than 15 hours, a plane from Abu Dhabi landed at Egypt’s Al Arish International Airport, evacuated the children, and then took off again from Abu Dhabi.
At 5.45 p.m. local time (7.45 p.m. UAE time), over 50 passengers—including medical volunteers and cabin crew—landed at Al Arish. Medical volunteers disembarked from the ambulances after the patients were brought to the tarmac and examined each patient.
The process of carrying the patients into the aircraft took more than five hours once the patients had been examined and stabilised.
The President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, issued an urgent order earlier this month to treat 1,000 Palestinian youngsters who were living in the Gaza Strip.
In addition, the UAE volunteered to treat 1,000 cancer patients in its hospitals following the collapse of the city’s healthcare system due to ongoing Israeli bombing.
