Abu Dhabi Bans Labour Buses On Key Road During New Year 2026

In an effort to improve road safety and ease congestion during the peak hours of New Year’s travel, authorities are temporarily restricting the movement of labour buses.

The Integrated Transport Centre has announced a temporary ban on labour buses along the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22). This restriction, effective from Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 12:00 PM, until Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 6:00 AM, is all about making sure the roads stay safe and traffic flows smoothly during the hectic holiday period.

But don’t worry! There are exemptions

Before you start stressing about logistics, here’s the good news:

Vehicles for logistics support and public cleaning companies are exempt from this restriction. So, the streets will still have some activity, just not as packed with buses as usual.

Plan ahead and stay safe!

If you’re planning to head out during this period, the best advice is to stay ahead of the game. Check for any route changes, follow the signs, and be extra cautious on the roads. This temporary measure is all about creating a safer and more efficient travel experience for everyone.

Happy (and safe) New Year in Abu Dhabi!
