Abu Dhabi Issues Alert Over Whale Shark Sighting at the Corniche
Don’t panic, Whale sharks are harmless and gentle creatures!
The Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) posted a video showing the whale shark spotted near the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Whale sharks pose no danger to human life
On July 4th, the EAD posted a reassuring video on their official Instagram to dispel concerns about whale sharks. They emphasized that despite being the largest fish in the oceans, whale sharks are gentle creatures and do not pose any danger to humans.
They also urged the public to respect the whale shark’s presence and maintain a safe distance to safeguard both community well-being and marine environment health.

If you haven’t heard of whale sharks before, here’s a bit about them:
These creatures, known as the gentle giants of the sea, can grow up to 40 feet long and live for about 70 years. Sadly, they’re listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature due to threats like habitat loss, water pollution, and fishing pressures affecting their population.
Appreciate their presence at the Abu Dhabi Corniche from afar! Let them thrive in Abu Dhabi’s pristine waters.
