This initiative by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) aims to protect students’ health and prevent spine and posture issues.

Guided by advice from the American Chiropractic Association, the policy considers each student’s physical condition and history. Schools are encouraged to tailor their approach to ensure the new weight limits support student well-being, especially for younger kids who are still developing.

Schools will have time to adapt to these changes starting February 1, 2026

The above regulations specify weight limits based on grade levels, making sure students carry appropriate loads for their age. This is all part of a larger effort to enhance student welfare and create a safer learning environment.
