AED 1,000 Fine For Skipping School Bus ‘Stop’ in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Police is making it clear: when you see a school bus extend its “Stop” arm, you have to stop. Not just if you’re behind the bus, drivers in both directions need to come to a complete halt. And don’t just stop close; you need to maintain a distance of at least five metres to keep students safe while they cross.

The fine is heavy, and the reason is important

If you don’t follow the rule, it’s going to cost you. Failing to stop when a school bus displays the “Stop” sign will result in a Dhs1,000 fine and 10 traffic points. But this isn’t just about avoiding a fine, it’s about protecting kids as they board or leave the bus.

It’s all about safety on the roads

The police released a video to raise awareness and remind everyone that these rules save lives. So next time you see that red “Stop” arm, hit the brakes and give students the space they need.
