Khalifa City’s Al Asayil Street has officially renamed to Al Nakhwah Street as a meaningful gesture of resilience. This change coincides with the third anniversary of the Houthi drone attack that targeted Abu Dhabi’s Mussafah area on January 17, 2022.
Al Nakhwah Street stretches 6 kilometers from Al Fursan Street to Al Bandar Street. It is a key road in Khalifa City. The street intersects with important roads, including Theyab Bin Eissa Street. It is known for its well-maintained landscaping and heavy traffic. Due to its location near popular areas like Masdar City and the Al Forsan International Sport Resort, both drivers and pedestrians frequently use the street
The new name, “Al Nakhwah,” holds significant meaning. It represents bravery and the strength to support others in tough times—values that reflect the UAE’s response to the attack.
The word “Al Nakhwah” holds deep cultural significance. It symbolizes endurance and unity, reflecting how the UAE united after the tragic event. Renaming the street is a powerful reminder of the country’s commitment to standing strong in the face of adversity.
This renaming also recalls the events of January 17, 2022. A drone attack caused an explosion of fuel tanks and a minor fire near Abu Dhabi International Airport (now Zayed International Airport). The attack claimed three lives and left six others with injuries.
This street name now serves as a lasting tribute to the strength and unity that the country continues to embody.
