An Airline Will Pay AED 10,000 To Passenger Due To Faulty Seat

The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court order…

Airline will pay AED 10,000 to a passenger injured after discovering loose seat mid-flight

The court ruled the faulty seat compromised the passenger’s safety and caused distress.

The backstory

Court papers say she got cuts and injuries during the flight, was treated at a clinic when she arrived and later got more medical care both abroad and in the UAE.

The woman sued the airline for AED 50,000 for damages and 9% interest. She said the cabin crew ignored her complaints and didn’t offer a solution.

Court ruled in passenger’s favor

The court found the faulty seat affected the woman’s safety and caused her emotional distress. It gave her AED 10,000 as fair compensation for her injuries and distress.

A lesson for airlines everywhere

This case serves as a serious warning to airlines to ensure thorough cabin inspections. Failing to address safety issues, like faulty seats, can result in significant legal and financial consequences. Airlines must prioritize safety checks to prevent harm and avoid costly repercussions.
