Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary General is in the UAE and was impressed by the solar panels he saw while flying over Abu Dhabi.
In an official tweet shared through his account, he commended the UAE’s efforts in providing direct solutions to address the current global climate emergency.
A video accompanied the tweet, showing him on a helicopter tour over the AED3.2million solar plant Noor Abu Dhabi- which is the world’s largest solar projects. This project is set to help with clean energy and increase it by up to 50% by 2050, while reducing carbon footprint of power generation by 70%, according to WAM.
“In UAE I saw the vast Noor Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest solar power plant, the kind of clean & efficient solution needed to address the global climate emergency.”
