Someone Is Trying To Find The Childhood Friend They Met At Abu Dhabi Airport In 2009

A Reddit user is hoping the internet can help them reconnect with a childhood friend they met at Abu Dhabi Airport back in 2009.

In a post shared on the Abu Dhabi subreddit, the user recalled a small but meaningful moment from a family trip to Mumbai. They were traveling with their mom and siblings when their flight was delayed due to bad weather. After passing the food outlets at the airport, the family had nothing to eat and the children were hungry.

The user who was about seven years old at the time met another boy around the same age. The two started playing together, and at one point the boy shared a packet of Oman Chips. The user even took some back to their mom and siblings before returning to continue playing.

The Redditor says the moment stuck with them because it meant a lot to their mom that someone shared food with them when they were hungry.

They also remember a surprising twist. On the return journey from Mumbai back to Abu Dhabi, both families ended up on the same flight again, this time with both fathers present.

The user shared a few details they remember about the boy in hopes that someone might recognise them:

• The boy was around 7 years old in 2009 (which would make him about 24 or 25 today)
• He studied at Sherwood Academy in Abu Dhabi
• His family lived around Hamdan Street
• They were Marathi
• He mentioned that his grandmother lived in Thane, and the family planned to stay in Borivali once his father arrived
• The user vaguely remembers his surname possibly ending in “…kar”

While the Redditor admits it’s a long shot, they shared the story because it’s a memory their family still cherishes—and they’re hoping the internet might help them reconnect with the boy who shared his chips all those years ago.
