Dubai Confirms Distance Learning, While Abu Dhabi Parents Await Further Updates

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has officially confirmed that all private educational institutions in Dubai, including schools, nurseries, and universities will continue with distance learning until Friday, April 3, 2026.

But Abu Dhabi parents are still awaiting ADEK updates

While the nationwide directive initially set a two-week period for remote learning starting March 23, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has not yet issued a specific follow-up statement regarding an exact end date or extension similar to Dubai’s April 3rd timeline.

Currently, Abu Dhabi schools are operating under the broader federal guidance, but parents are looking for localized clarity on when a physical return to the classroom might be sanctioned.

Following the latest announcement from the Education Council, distance learning will officially continue for the first two weeks of the third academic term

To further support families during this period, flexible remote work arrangements have been introduced for federal government employees who are caregivers for children up to Grade 8.

The Ministry of Education will review the situation on a weekly basis. Parents are encouraged to check official MOE channels and monitor direct school emails for any updates on schedules or potential returns to in-person learning.

Parents are advised to:

Monitor School Portals: Regularly check direct emails and dashboards from your child’s specific school.

Follow Official Sources: Rely strictly on verified updates from ADEK, the KHDA, or the Ministry of Education (MoE).

Flexible Work: Remember that federal employees who are caregivers for children (up to Grade 8) may be eligible for flexible remote work arrangements during this period.
