Indonesia Has Set A New Minimum Wage For Housemaids In The UAE That Will Up Their Salaries

A new directive from the Indonesian embassy in Abu Dhabi will require all Indonesian housemaids to be a paid per a minimum wage, it has been announced. 

The Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis said the wage will be dependent on the maid’s experience, but will be a base of AED1,400 for a maid with two to four years experience. 

The embassy stated it will not attest job contracts of those not adhering to the rules, but also said there has been no resistance at present of the rule. 

Wages will be paid in brackets

  • 2 to 4 years: AED1,400
  • 4 to 6 years: AED1,600
  • 6 to 8 years: AED1,800
  • 8 to 10 years: AED2,000
  • 10 to 12 years: AED2,200
  • 12 to 14 years: AED2,400
  • 14 to 16 years: AED2,600
  • 16 to 18 years: AED2,800
  • 18 to 20 years: AED3,000
  • 20 years plus: AED3,200
