Injured Palestinians Are Getting Urgent Medical Help At The UAE’s Floating Hospital

Yesterday, the UAE Floating Hospital assisted injured Palestinians at the Port of Al-Arish. Healthcare professionals provided quick care to the first patients from Gaza in alignment with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives. The floating hospital emphasizes the ‘Gallant Knight 3’ operation’s aim to support the people of Gaza.

A 20-year-old injured Palestinian man underwent surgery at the hospital yesterday

He sustained gunshot wounds and shrapnel and was the first surgery at the hospital. His injuries consisted of a dislocated and fractured shoulder, damaged nerves in his arm which led to his entire hand being immobile. Doctors performed a swift surgery to reposition the shoulder. However, he needs a follow-up operation in the near future to address the nerve damage.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and AD Ports Groups cooperated and established the Floating Hospital

They have a medical and administration staff of 100 people specialising in a variety of fields including:

  • Anaesthesia
  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Nurses
  • Support Staff

The hospital has a capacity of 100 beds, operating rooms, intensive care, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, and medical cabinets to assist injured Palestinians.

Dr. Falah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Floating Hospital, said that the hospital is equipped with the best and latest equipment that contributes to providing all types of treatment and medical care according to the best international standards and protocols. Additionally, it has a helipad and a marine boat to enhance the response to emergency and difficult cases.
