When you drive around Abu Dhabi you have to keep a few things in mind such as speeding, tailgating, and now… Driving below the speed limit! There is one road in the city that has a maximum speed limit of 140 km/h and a minimum speed limit of 120 km/h. Due to that, authorities issued more than 300k of fines for driving under the speed limit.

Last year, Abu Dhabi Police posted a video of billboards on a major road that show new minimum and maximum speed limits

They implemented the minimum speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road in both directions starting April 1, 2023. Anyone who drives below 120 km/h on the two left lanes receive a fine of AED 400. Make sure to take note so you can avoid those fines!

Minimum Speed Limit more than 300k fines

According to the Ministry of Interior, over 300k drivers were fined for driving below the speed limit

To be specific, authorities gave 300,147 drivers a fine for driving below the minimum speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road in 2023.
