A group of motorists was arrested in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa (Zafar) region for reckless driving and performing dangerous stunts that endangered both their lives and those of other road users. Authorities also found that the vehicles involved had no license plates and that the drivers attempted to evade law enforcement. The operation was led by the Department of Traffic and Security Patrols in coordination with the Special Patrol Administration. Officials described the behavior as “uncivilized” and confirmed a swift, professional response resulting in multiple arrests and ongoing legal action.
Brigadier General Mohammed Dahi Al Humairi, Director of the Central Operations Sector, reiterated that Abu Dhabi Police will adopt a zero-tolerance stance toward any driving behavior that threatens public order, property, or safety. He specifically urged youth drivers to comply with traffic laws and avoid risky driving choices. Drivers convicted of reckless driving face harsh penalties under UAE traffic law — including a Dh 2,000 fine, 23 black points, and vehicle impoundment for 60 days.
Authorities also appealed to the community to play a proactive role in road safety by reporting dangerous or illegal driving through the “Aman” hotline (8002626) or via SMS (2828).
Abu Dhabi Police have committed to continuous monitoring through enhanced field campaigns and checkpoints across key highway zones to safeguard lives and maintain public order.
