Fake News: The ‘Bitcoin Trading System’ Allegedly Endorsed By HH Sheikh Mohamed Is An Internet Scam

Facebook is taking action after a fake news story using the image of Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince went viral for a bitcoin scam.

The story suggested HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces was endorsing a Bitcoin trading system, and that for a minor fee, (AED918) residents could get rich, fast.

According to The National, scam accounts duping citizens are located in Ukraine and Argentina, and Facebook, the platform where the posts were widely shared, is on the case.

Facebook has a dedicated team to detect and delete posts from bogus accounts, and the accounts and sponsored post have reportedly been deleted.
