A tragic accident happened in Algeria.
The bus lost control in the Mohammadia district late Friday and plunged into the river, according to Algeria’s state press agency. Civil Defence deployed 25 ambulances, 16 divers, and four boats to the scene, with recovery operations continuing into the night.
At least 18 people were killed and nine others injured, local media reported.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune declared a national day of mourning after the crash, which has become one of Algeria’s worst road accidents in recent years.
The UAE offered its condolences following a deadly bus crash in Algiers that caused multiple deaths and injuries.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and the Algerian people, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
