The UAE, along with the GCC and Jordan, has expressed support for Bahrain’s resolution at the United Nations Security Council. The resolution calls for the Strait of Hormuz to remain open to all ships without control by any single country.

It also says that countries should be allowed to take defensive actions to protect the Strait and prevent any attacks or interference with international shipping.
Bahrain’s draft highlights the need for a legal framework based on international law and humanitarian law, ensuring safe passage for all vessels.
The UN Secretary-General will monitor the situation monthly, allowing the Security Council to act if new developments occur.

The UAE’s support was confirmed by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, during a virtual meeting hosted by the UK on the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting included foreign ministers from about 40 countries, including France, Germany, Canada, and India, and focused on ways to reopen the Strait safely.
The UAE minister also warned that Iran’s attacks on commercial ships in the Gulf and the Strait are acts of economic warfare and piracy.
