UAE Steps Into The Future With Driverless Cars Launching March 2026

The UAE is officially stepping into the future. This March, the country’s first autonomous taxi service will launch, starting in Dubai with 100 fully self-driving vehicles.

Sheikh Hamdan tested the technology himself and went hands-off

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum personally tested the service, taking a ride in a Baidu Apollo Go driverless car to the World Governments Summit, demonstrating the hands-off technology in action.

The launch comes as part of a partnership between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and three major operators: Pony.ai, Uber, and Baidu. The initial fleet of 100 autonomous taxis will make Dubai the first city in the UAE to adopt self-driving vehicles, with plans to expand the service nationwide in the coming years.
