UAE Residents Might Get A Four-Day Weekend For Arafat Day!

Four days off? Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha are making it happen!

UAE residents might be in for a four-day weekend with Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha!

The possible holiday dates have been predicted, with Thursday, June 5, looking like Arafat Day. But keep in mind that the final decision depends on the UAE’s moon-sighting committee spotting that crescent moon.
Experts from the Emirates Astronomy Society expect Eid Al Adha to begin on Friday, June 6. They predict the crescent moon for Dhu Al Hijjah could be seen on May 27. If that’s right, Arafat Day would fall on Thursday, June 5, just before Eid celebrations kick off.

What is Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha?

Arafat Day is a super important day in Islam. It happens on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah, right before Eid Al Adha. On this day, pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat during Hajj, and it’s also where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave one of his last sermons.

Eid Al Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, remembers Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son out of faith — before God provided a ram as a substitute. It’s a joyful day filled with prayers, giving to those in need, family gatherings and sharing meat from the ritual sacrifice.
