The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) also recently carried out 1,198 inspection campaigns and visits between June 9 and June 22, 2024, to uncover law breaches.
Investigations led to the detention of 90 workers who were found in violation and 153 others were deported
Inspections uncovered several breaches of the LMRA and Residency Laws in Bahrain, and legal actions were taken against these violations. The LMRA conducted 1,176 inspections in various shops across all governorates and held 22 joint campaigns: 14 in the Capital Governorate, 2 in the Muharraq Governorate, 2 in the Northern Governorate, and 4 in the Southern Governorate.
The LMRA emphasized that they will keep working with government agencies to ramp up inspections across Bahrain
These inspections aim to tackle any issues that threaten the stability and competitiveness of the labor market or the economic and social security of the country. The LMRA also encouraged everyone to help government agencies fight illegal labor practices by reporting violations through the online form on their website, calling the call center at 17506055, or using the government’s Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
