President Joseph Aoun Delivers Strong “Lebanon First” Message After Ceasefire

President Joseph Aoun addressed the Lebanese people following the start of the ceasefire with Israel, saying the agreement was achieved through combined local and international efforts. He acknowledged the role of friendly and allied countries, including Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia, while stressing that the sacrifices of the Lebanese people helped bring global attention and support.

Endurance through pressure and a new phase ahead

He noted that Lebanon faced heavy criticism and pressure but remained committed to its chosen path. According to him, the country is now entering a new phase where it can negotiate independently and regain its decision-making power after years of external influence, even if this transition may bring new challenges.

Negotiations as a tool to protect sovereignty

The president stressed that negotiations should not be seen as weakness or compromise, but rather as a strategic step to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty and people. He emphasized that any future agreements will not come at the expense of national rights, territorial integrity, or the dignity of the Lebanese people.

A call for unity and stability

He reiterated that his main priority is to safeguard lives and ensure stability, including ending violence, securing Israeli withdrawal, restoring full state authority, and enabling displaced citizens to return home safely. He concluded by calling for national unity, warning that Lebanon’s future depends on awareness, solidarity, and collective responsibility.
