Egypt's Population Is Expected to Hit 157 Million by 2050

A recent study concluded that Egypt’s population is expected to reach 157 Million by the beginning of the year 2050. This study was done by Egypt’s National Population Council (NPC). This increase is considered to be “alarming” and that “precautions should be taken starting today” expressed Tarek Tawfik, Head of NPC.

Egypt's Population Is Expected to Hit 157 Million by 2050

These figures are estimated given the current birthrate in the country. However, NPC stated thatEgyptian families should apply the “Two Children Only”. If applied correctly the number will be reduced to 142 Million by 2050.

Tawfik added that their awareness campaigns were focused on Cairo and the Delta Governorates. Adding that the main issue is coming out of Upper Egypt, where the campaigns are not really getting through.

Just so you would know; There are 22 institutions in Egypt that are working on spreading awareness regarding birth control. Most of them are governmental and others are NGOs operating out of Egypt. However, all the people contributing are volunteers. But as experts assess the situation, they believe that these efforts should be translated into policies that are implemented on ground ASAP.

On another note; V-Day is coming up … Are you ready to dazzle?
