Egypt Condemns Israeli Attack On Iranian Consulate In Syria

In a post on X, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid- the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced Egypt’s condemnation of the targeting of the Iranian consulate in Syria.

The statement read, “We categorically reject the attack on diplomatic facilities under any justification, and we stand in solidarity with sister Syria in respecting its sovereignty, the integrity of its lands, and its brotherly people.”

 

At approximately 5 PM on Monday, the Israeli army launched an air aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting the Iranian consulate building in Damascus. The air defenses intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them.

A military source added, “The aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the fall and injury of everyone inside. Work is underway to recover the bodies of the victims, treat the wounded, and remove the rubble.”

The Iranian ambassador to Syria, Hussein Akbari, suggested that 5 to 7 people were killed as a result of the Israeli attack, pointing out that search operations are still in motion.

Official Iranian media outlets quoted the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullahian as saying that “Tehran holds Israel responsible for the consequences of the attack, stressing that the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus is a violation of all international conventions.”
