Egypt is arranging a summit next Saturday, October 21st in order to discuss the future of the Palestinian issue, negotiate methods to help de-escalate the situation, and protect civilians from Israel’s non-stop bombardment.
The Sunday after, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will head an urgent Security Council meeting in Cairo.
The Cairo Peace Summit 2023, as local press like to call it, is supposed to see the participation of leaders from the Arab world including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, and Jordan.
Additionally, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Caritin Colonna, announced in a joint press conference in Cairo on Monday with her Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, her country’s approval to participate in the summit.
US President Joe Biden is also expected to participate in the summit as he visits Israel this week.
Besides the previously mentioned countries, the summit is also expected to see the participation of more than 15 countries, including the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The Palestinian death toll has reached almost 4200, and the number of injured civilians has passed 10,000.
Additionally, 1,00,000 innocent civilians have also been displaced due to Israel’s vicious attacks on residential areas and hospitals.
The United Nations Human Rights Office regarded the evacuation of Palestinians from North Gaza to the South as a “Forcible Transfer of Civilians,” which is considered a serious international law violation.
Additionally, the office called for a humanitarian pause in order to enable aid delivery and to prevent further suffering and deaths of the already beleaguered civilian population of Gaza.
It’s important to note that Egypt has prepared Al Arish Airport to receive humanitarian aid donations from the international community. However, Israel bombed the only accessible border, the Rafah Crossing Border, between Gaza and Egypt 4 times, obstructing the way for aid delivery.
It’s also important to mention that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday, and the meeting resulted in the agreement on a 5-hour ceasefire in order to provide a smooth passage of humanitarian aid into Gaza and a safe route for foreign nationals.
However, after the agreement between both parties, Netanyahu’s office denied it “At the moment there is no ceasefire for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and the exit of foreigners,”
“The Cairo Peace Summit 2023” is expected to produce a safe resolution in order to protect civilians, and prevent the genocide against Gazans.
